Hello! My name is Dottie, I came to CAHS when my owner passed away and no one in the family was able to care for me. Since coming to CAHS I have had a rough go of it, I came down with what seemed like an ordinary upper respiratory infection. I was treated with antibiotics and seemed to get better. However my symptoms quickly came back and they came back worse the second time. I was not interested in eating at all so the staff at CAHS syringe fed me for a few weeks as I slowly recovered. However even with the efforts made by the staff and vet team at the shelter I continue to get sick on and off. Once I start showing symptoms I am started on antibiotics and steroids which help me! I will likely be chronically ill, the underlying cause is a mystery. I have had blood work done and have been examined by multiple vet teams but there isn’t an obvious answer for my illness. There is a chance that going home will help improve my symptoms, to test this the staff at CAHS have moved me to the mock living room and it seems to be helping so far! There is a chance that I had this issue in my previous home however when my owner passed away none of my medical information was passed on to anyone.
I am a bit of a sassy older lady, I will let you pat me and give you head butts but will turn around and bat at you when I have had enough. I have lived with other cats before but it would be best to talk with your vet about bringing me home to another cat with my medical history. I have not been around dogs before and I would do best in a home with teenagers.
